Shinhan Finance – Supporting education at a borderland school in Lang Chanh District, Thanh Hoa Province

Continuing the commitment to fostering a strong and compassionate community, on April 25, Shinhan Finance’s Cau Giay Branch brought love and support to Yen Khuong Primary School, located in Lang Chanh District, Thanh Hoa Province. This meaningful initiative is part of the Harmony community project – a series of volunteer activities organized and spread by Shinhan Finance with the heartfelt participation of employees across the country.

Under the theme “Spreading love, nurturing the future”, Shinhan Finance delivered 100 gift packages containing textbooks, notebooks, and school supplies directly to underprivileged students. More than just material support, these gifts represent a gesture of compassion, meant to inspire hope, and motivate the children to keep nurturing their dreams through education.

Situated in the mountainous border district of Lang Chanh, adjacent to the Vietnam-Laos border, Yen Khuong Primary School still faces many challenges due to its remote location and limited living conditions. More than half of the local population lives in poverty or near-poverty, with the majority being of Thai ethnic origin. The small gifts from Shinhan Finance carry the hope of becoming a warm light that encourages these young students on their journey to school in this distant highland area.

Representing the school, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhan – Principal of Yen Khuong Primary School shared:
"We are honored and truly grateful to be chosen by Shinhan Finance as a destination in their volunteer journey. These gifts not only provide better learning conditions for our students but also serve as a great source of encouragement, helping them believe in a brighter future."

Over the past 6 years in Vietnam, Shinhan Finance has remained steadfast in mission to support education, foster learning, and promote reading culture in many localities across the country, with strong engagement from employees nationwide.

Some notable initiatives include:

- “Fulfil your dream and happiness” program: 64 bookshelves with over 24,625 children's books have been donated to 11 libraries across various provinces and cities.

- Good Hallyu Project: Initiated by Shinhan Card and implemented by Shinhan Finance in Vietnam, this project has provided 1,855 gift sets (including pens, bags, school supplies kits, books, hygiene kits, etc.) for children at SOS Children's Villages nationwide.

Recently, Shinhan Finance’s community journey also reached Vinh Son Kindergarten in Binh Duong Province, where 35 gift sets, including books and school supplies, were donated to disadvantaged children. For those in especially difficult family situations, the company also provided each child with milk and 10 kg of rice.

Looking ahead, Shinhan Finance remains committed to social programs for the community, staying true to its promise:

"A better world through compassionate finance" – aiming to enhance quality of life, create lasting value, and contribute to a more prosperous future for the people of Vietnam.
