Joining Hands with SunUni, Shinhan Finance Embarks on a Journey to Help Vietnamese Learn English More Easily

Amid Vietnam’s strong shift toward digitalization and international integration, English is no longer an “extra advantage” but has become an essential tool for young people entering an increasingly competitive labor market. However, access to quality training programs remains uneven between regions and between learners with sufficient financial conditions and those struggling with both time and budget constraints.

On December 11, the signing ceremony between Shinhan Vietnam Finance Company Ltd. – Shinhan Finance and SunUni Global Group took place in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting attention from the business community and the education sector. This collaboration is not only a connection between a reputable consumer finance institution and a rising online English training platform, but also a story of how businesses are joining hands to address a very real social need—helping Vietnamese people learn English more easily, more conveniently, and in a more modern way. It marks an important development milestone for both sides following a series of collaborative activities since November 2025, forming an official foundation to deploy deeper partnership initiatives in 2026.

Representing Shinhan Finance, Mr. Le Minh Chi – Head of Product Division – shared at the event that education has always been a foundation for individuals to broaden their development opportunities. He emphasized that partnering with SunUni is not only a business commitment but also part of the company’s “Compassionate Finance” strategy, helping more people access knowledge proactively and in ways that suit their abilities. A noteworthy perspective, in the context where learners increasingly prioritize flexible, easily accessible, and immediately applicable study models, is that the two companies will combine their respective strengths such as cross-marketing communication, consumer loans, and credit cards to optimize financial solutions for SunUni learners and customers within the SunUni ecosystem. This cooperation aims to enhance customer experience through diverse, convenient, transparent financial products tailored to learning, consumption, and personal development needs.

For SunUni, the partnership is considered a significant step forward in bringing internationally standardized English programs closer to students, university learners, and busy working professionals. With expertise in educational technology, SunUni offers AI-enhanced learning models, interactive online classes, and an extensive library of learning materials—elements that can help learners stay motivated and improve practical skills.

The intersection between a finance-focused enterprise and a training-focused enterprise creates opportunities for learners to access high-quality programs at reasonable costs. More importantly, it signals positive momentum for Vietnam’s financial education market: organizations are beginning to recognize each other as “complementary pieces” rather than entities operating in isolation.

The collaboration between Shinhan Finance and SunUni is expected to create a new model in supporting Vietnamese people in improving their English proficiency—a skill that can change an individual’s future. Shinhan Finance will provide installment tuition loan packages for SunUni learners, helping them participate in online English courses without heavy upfront financial pressure. These products are not technically new, but when placed within the context of digital education, finance becomes a tool to expand learning opportunities rather than merely a short-term consumption solution. From there, the challenging journey of learning English becomes lighter and more approachable for millions of learners across the country.

Previously, Shinhan Finance representatives also participated in the S80 scholarship awarding event—a program offering up to 70% tuition discounts for IELTS and online communication courses—and signed a memorandum of understanding with SunUni. These activities show that the relationship between the two sides does not stop at a ceremonial signing but is being strengthened through concrete programs that bring practical benefits to learners.
