Fraud warning – Beware of fraudsters offering fraudulent consumer loans!
Ho Chi Minh city, November 16th, 2020. Shinhan Finance has noticed its customer for better awareness of fraud prevention and announced that Shinhan Finance work hard to help them avoid becoming a victim of fraudsters.
The number of fraudsters offering fake consumer loans and/or credits has been popular in the market. These so-called loans and/or offers of credit are often made at very attractive conditions such as no application process, quick disbursal, bad credit accepted etc. by fraudsters posing as private individuals or those claiming to operate on behalf of large banks/consumer finance companies.
Scam calls/emails
In the context of this fraud, any targeted person is “eligible” for these loans and/or offers of credit without any checks or controls or any loan contracts. Depending on the situation, the targeted person may be invited to contact the fraudster claiming on behalf of a bank/consumer finance company by email or by phone for a loan approval or a home delivery of a new credit card. The goal of the fraudster is to be paid for a fee for the so-called set up of the application. Once the fake credit card was paid, it’s found unable to use while the victim could not reconnect to its provider.
The fraudster may also attempt to trick you into providing your personal information or documents containing personal data under the guise of creating the so-called loan and/or credit application. Be warned, fraudsters may reuse this information for future illegal activities.
Additionally, these fraudsters are often using the official address of the company in order to give more credibility to their messages. Some loans or offers of credit therefore appear to be made by so-called employees or branches, service introduction points of Shinhan Finance.

We have not offered any credit card to individuals in Vietnam.
As a result, be very alert to these fake offers of loans and/or offers of credit distributed via phone calls and via e-mail etc which claim to be coming from Shinhan Finance, especially when it’s provided with no credit check loans or no loan contract or only credit card/loan processing fee required
In addition, raise your awareness of early fraud detection and prevention. Do not open email/text message attachments from unknown or unsolicited senders for any payment, purchasing, financing processes. And do not give out passwords including OTP or PIN numbers over the Internet.
