Shinhan Finance contributes children books to Dong Nai Province Library
Ho Chi Minh City, 04.11.2020 – Shinhan Vietnam Finance Company Ltd., (Shinhan Finance), which was recognized and named The Best Sustainability Development Company Vietnam 2020*, announced its book project which contributed 2,321 new children books to Dong Nai Province library, which are in need of more good-quality books for the local children. These books were recommended and supplied by Kim Dong, the largest publisher and distributor of children's books in Vietnam.
To date, the Project has been to 7 libraries across Vietnam, donated 42 new bookshelves with more than 17,000 books and decorated 7 reading rooms, including Nam Dinh, Thua Thien Hue, Bac Giang, Tien Giang, Ha Nam, Hanoi and Dong Nai public libraries.
In the third consecutive year of this project themed “Fulfil Your Dreams And Happiness”, which is extended to promote active reading among Vietnamese children, it continues to support the company’s commitment to advocate literacy and a reading culture to better equip the future generation.
In Vietnam, children are keen to read text-books for academic reasons than reading books outside the school syllabus. The importance of enhancing the accessibility of books in the public libraries and providing a variety of contents are often highlighted to promote active reading as a powerful tool to encourage children to pick up and finish a book themselves.
“We are honored to run this children book project for the third consecutive year to inspire a passion for literacy and a commitment to spreading the message of how books can be influential in a child’s life,” said Mr. Yang Hyung Mo, BOD member cum Head of Strategy & Planning of Shinhan Finance. “Through this initiative, we aim to encourage active reading which plants seeds for active learning and to help more local children “Fulfil Your Dreams And Happiness” by enhancing their access to the very best children books. After Nam Dinh, Thua Thien Hue, Bac Giang, Tien Giang, Ha Nam and Hanoi, Dong Nai is the seventh location we invested in more good books for Vietnamese children. We are still on the way to bring this up at national scope.”

At the same day, Shinhan Finance received the Certificate of Appreciation by Ha Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, No. 405/QĐ – SVHTTDL issued on October 29th 2020 for the company’s support to local Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as Dong Nai Province library.
