Dear Valued Customers and Employees,

Today, 02 July, 2021 is the second anniversary of Shinhan Finance Brand, marking 2 years of its launching in Vietnam market. I would like to take this occasion to thank each of you for being a part of Shinhan Finance.

Although this is a very special time when the world facing an unprecedented global pandemic, it’s still a time for us to reflect on the past, and more importantly, to focus on the future.

2020 on wards was a series of challenge days, as life is significantly affected by the Covid-19 global pandemic. Amid the market uncertainties, Shinhan Finance held steady and we managed to maintain a robust foundation. At Shinhan Finance, Covid-19 has tested our banking finance systems, our digital transformation readiness, risk management and our success vision. This situation calls for unprecedented measures. And we have plenty of challenges ahead in the post-pandemic world. Meanwhile we must take radical steps to adopt multiple new capital rules, collection regulations, and reporting requirements from the governance bodies.

Those underline the importance of our efforts to faithfully reflect sustainable credit lending growth in our financial statements, and to remain as transparent as possible. The Company was honored to be named the “Best Sustainable Development Company Vietnam 2020” by Global Banking & Finance Review, United Kingdom, and the “Best companies to work for in Asia 2020” by HR Asia.

All of this was made possible with your unwavering trust and support. As General Director of the Shinhan Finance, I would like to express my sincere gratitude.

A fresh new journey is now upon us. However, Covid-19 remains a threat and we still expect new challenges ahead in coming time. To skillfully navigate our way through multiple and volatile uncertainties, Shinhan Finance will keep its principles set out in our strategic direction.

Shinhan Finance, following the direction of Shinhan Financial Group, will fortify our core strengths and maintain our competitiveness in products and services whatever situation or crisis could come our way. While we pursue qualitative improvement of our key products & customer service, we will also work to find new opportunities to grow our business.

In such times of complexities, I believe ‘Resilience’ will be the key factor to maintain a corporate’s survival and growth. And the key characteristic of resilience is the ability to spring back quickly from crises and turn them into positive opportunities. Accordingly, all of us at Shinhan Finance will strengthen our early risk detection abilities and take effective actions to neutralize any crisis situations.

We will uphold our Group mission of "Compassionate Finance" for marginalized communities who are undergoing even more difficulties due to the pandemic.

Finally, I want to emphasize that our mission “Making the world a better place through finance", Shinhan Finance strives to uphold a virtuous cycle of shared prosperity that will create greater value of our customer, Shinhan, and all of society. To this end, we seek new methods and new approaches so that we can deliver products and services and manage money in ways that keep pace with changes in the environment.
